Photos from the October 24th Curbside Rally in Irvine

The rally was a great success with over 40 people attending. We covered all four corners and marched in the pedestrian crossings through most green lights. A highly effective rally with many many horn honks of approval from passing motorists. See the photo story below.

Rose Bowl Stickering October 30th

The Rose Bowl and parking lots cover a lot of ground and all times are approximate. Attendance at this event must be coordinated with organizer.  Contact mark@taxit.org

  • Depart OC aproximately 8:30 am to arrive at Rose Bowl (Pasadena) by 9:30, early enough to canvass the tailgate parties before the UCLA game.
  • Hand out free Yes on 19 stickers.   They luv ‘em!   A lot get worn into the stadium to be seen by thousands.
  • Raise awareness of the issue by wearing Yes on 19 gear and carrying light-weight Yes on 19 signs.  Remind folks of the important election just a few days away at that point.
  • Depart Pasadena aproximately 1:00 pm
  • Carpooling can be arranged depending on participation.  Gas and parking covered by Cannabis Peace Corps

Bring water, hat, appropriate clothing, comfortable shoes, good vibes and enthusiasm!

Update on materials

In addition to having the canvassing walk lists at the Democrats of Greater Irvine HQ,  I have spoken with the office staff there and we will be allowed to use their facility as the central location for our lawn signs, campaign signs,  t-shirts, bumper stickers and buttons.  We already have the campaign signs there and should be getting the rest of the stuff later this week.

If you have time during the week to canvass a neighborhood or the UCI campus,  please drop by their office and pick up a walk list.  With less than 30 days until the election, we need everyone who signed up to volunteer to step up our efforts and keep our positive momentum alive.

Great Canvassing News!

The Democrats of Greater Irvine Headquarters will now be the main site for Yes on 19 canvasses in Orange County. They are open Monday through Friday from 10am-9pm, Saturday from 10am-6pm, and Sunday from 11am-6pm.  From now on, anybody who would like to canvass can show up at the Headquarters during those hours to pick up a Prop 19 walk list to canvass right then or whenever it is convenient. It's important to return the finished walk lists to the Headquarters after canvassing so they can be entered. Right now the Headquarters can print up walk lists for the Irvine area, but I will soon be making lists for other parts of Orange County. I will be dropping them at the Headquarters in Irvine where they can be picked up for those who want to canvass those areas.

With only 40 days until November 2nd we are getting ready to step up our activities in OC and steam on strongly through the next five weeks to victory.  We are holding two volunteer orientation meetings this weekend just to be sure that everyone can make it, so please make room in your schedule and help us make history this November!

Friday, Sept. 24  Meeting 6:30-730pm at University Town Center 4255 Campus Dr Suite  A 120
(Behind Lee's Sandwiches close to the end of the pedestrian bridge that comes from UCI)

Saturday, Sept. 25 Canvassing 10-2 Meeting 2:30-3:30pm

We'll be going over plans for the future of our field team, including plans to increase efforts and how to best win over voters in OC over the next 40 days.  Both meetings are the same so you only need to attend one.  This is a very exciting time to be involved in the campaign and we hope you can get involved!
Thank you so much for your support and willingness to help pass Prop 19.

Canvasing at UCI

Hello again prop 19 supporters, my name is Tony Burke and I am the
President of a student organization at UC Irvine.  Our group is leading
the charge for the Yes on 19 campaign at UCI.  Welcome week at UCI starts
out on Mon. Sept. 20th at 10AM at Aldrich Park (in the center of the UCI
campus).  The big event on the 20th is the Anteater Involvement Fair and
there will be at least 400 student organizations as well as thousands of
new and returning students and their families.  We need volunteers for our
table at the fair on the 20th to help us reach all of these people, and
then during that week (Sept. 20-24th) where student groups will be
flooding the UCI campus to reach out to new students during welcome week.
If you are available and willing to help anytime from Sept. 20-24th at UCI
please contact me at aburke@uci.edu and I can give you all the details.

Phone Banking

Dear prop 19 supporters, hello-my name is Tony Burke and I am the Yes on
19 phone bank coordinator for Orange County.  Phone banking is easy to do
and can be done from the comfort of your own home or wherever you have
internet access.  By logging in as a volunteer you will be given phone
numbers to call and a script of what to say.  Phone banking is one of the
most critical volunteering activities you can do because the campaign
staff has already gone through to target specific demographics who we
really really need to reach out to.  As Alex told me, phone banking is
like hitting the nail on the head over and over and over.  To get involved
and volunteer for phone banking please email me at aburke@uci.edu

Canvassing with Carl

We will be having our first OC door-to-door Yes on 19 canvass on Saturday, September 25, from 10am-2pm at 2529 Alona St. Santa Ana CA 92706 (House). Talking to voters is an essential part of the campaign, and that's why we need you! If you are interested in canvassing on the 25th, please contact Carl Weibel at 714-941-6836 or carleweibel@aol.com. We hope to see you there!

Please let me know via email or call me @ 949 689 8854.  We want a big showing there.
